Lydia ko hoisting the trophy at

the 2016 Chevron Championship

Major Anticipation Ahead of Year's First Major Championship

The first major of the season is fast approaching for LPGA players as tickets go on sale today for the Chevron Championship.

“The build-up to The Chevron Championship is always unique as it’s the first major of our season and eight long months since we last had the chance to compete for a major title," said World No. 1 Lydia Ko.

Ko hopes to add another major trophy to her pair. As does Nelly Korda who missed last year's contest due to injury.

“Missing out last year was so tough so I am definitely excited to be playing this year," said Korda, an 8-time winner on tour.

This year for the Chevron Championship is a bitter sweet one for many players and fans as it marks the first year the major tournament will be held on a new golf course. After decades spent in Palm Springs, CA, the tournament moves to Houston, TX. No longer will the winner leap into Poppie's Pond at the famed Mission Hills on the Dinah Shore Golf Course. The change in venue was announced last year when the title sponsorship also changed to Chevron.

Pro Bowl Skills Competition Includes Long-Drive Contest

This year's Pro Bowl looked different to some as the NFL added an AFC vs NFC skills competition to the events followed by a flag football game.

Plenty of NFL players are not strangers to the game of golf, so a long-drive contest seemed like a perfect fit.

Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer took home the top honors after his final attempt went 320 yards.
